Among the distinguished honourees is Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, a man whose name has become synonymous with service, courage, and transformational leadership.
Born on 16th June 1980 to the family of late Wilson and Ogbonneya Ogah of Onuaku, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Ogah’s life journey reflects a consistent pursuit of excellence and community impact. His academic foundation was laid at Udoka Primary School, Awka, Nnachi High School, Enugu, and later at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics.
Fondly known as Aguneche Ibe, Hon. Ogah’s passion for socio-economic development and job creation has remained the driving force behind his public and private engagements. He served meritoriously as Executive Director of seven subsidiary companies under the Pauli-Mama Group of Companies, and other business concerns beyond the group. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Economics, a Member of the Nigeria–America Chamber of Commerce (NACC), and a Member of the Global Trade Club of Spain.
His political journey reflects rare humility and sacrifice. In 2019, he answered the call of his people of Isuikwuato and Umunneochi to seek representation in the House of Representatives, but stepped down in the interest of unity. However, on 25th February 2023, he once again heeded the overwhelming call of his people and was decisively elected under the platform of the Labour Party as the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency. His victory brought to an end a long-standing political dominance and is widely regarded as one of the most remarkable upsets of the 2023 general elections.
At the 10th Assembly, Hon. Ogah serves as the Chairman, House Committee on Infectious Diseases, where he has distinguished himself through dynamic legislative interventions. His legislative footprints include sponsorship and support for impactful bills such as the National Institute for Organic Agriculture and Food Safety Research (Ulonna North, Isuikwuato, Abia State); the Creation of Uturu–Chieze Local Government Area; Creation of Etiti State; establishment of a Federal School of Nursing and Midwifery, Uturu; the Tuberculosis (Anti-Discrimination) Bill; the Private Institutions and Health Care Services Providers (Prohibition) Bill; the Fifty-Year National Economic Plan Act for Nigeria; and the amendment of the National Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Act.
Beyond the chambers of the National Assembly, Hon. Ogah is a practical philanthropist deeply connected to the yearnings of his people. He has empowered countless women and youths through skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship support, and fully funded educational scholarships. His developmental interventions span road construction, market development, healthcare outreaches, upgrading of medical facilities, and other community-based infrastructures aimed at improving living standards.
Notably, his empowerment initiatives include the 2019 empowerment outreach, the 16th November 2024 empowerment programme, and the landmark ₦1 Billion empowerment programme of 6th December 2025, where cars, commercial buses, tricycles, motorcycles, deep freezers, grinding machines, industrial sewing machines, and other tools of economic independence were distributed to constituents.
