Grief hung heavy in the air as the remains of Sir Nkwachi Anchor Nwosu, the only son of retired Archbishop, His Grace, Most Revd Ikechi Nwachukwu Nwosu, was laid to rest following a fatal motor accident that claimed his life at the age of 42 in Port Harcourt.
If tears could reverse tragedy, Sir Nkwachi might have awakened as the wails of mourners echoed like wells of sorrow.
The burial ceremony, held in his family compound in Amakama, Umuahia South LGA, began with a solemn funeral service at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Amakama Olokoro.
The Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi, preached a message titled “We Have Hope in Christ”, drawn from 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14,18.
He reminded the grieving congregation that though painful, death for believers is not without hope.
“Let us not grieve like those who have no hope,” Bishop Ibeabuchi urged.
“Sir Nkwachi lived a short but impactful life, marked by generosity, faith, and service. We must be consoled by the promise of resurrection and eternal life in Christ.”
In a moving funeral oration, Ozichi Gospel, sister to the deceased, paid glowing tribute to her brother’s quiet strength and deep faith.
“Nkwachi’s Christian journey began right here,” she said. “He was baptized, confirmed, married, and knighted by the church.
His life was a reflection of Holy Spirit-led leadership, humility, and service to the less privileged,widows, widowers, and indigent youth.”
Describing him as a “Bible-believing and Holy Spirit-discerning man,” she recalled his dedication to family, the church, and his profession.
In his vote of thanks, Archbishop Nwachukwu Nwosu expressed gratitude to all who came to mourn with the family and reminded everyone of the sovereignty of God.
“He gives life and takes it at His appointed time,” he said. “We may mourn, but not as those without hope.”
The funeral attracted a broad spectrum of dignitaries,bishops from the Anglican communion and 
various denominations, members of the clergy, political figures, friends, associates, and well-wishers—who came to pay their final respects to a man described as selfless, faithful, and noble in character.
Sir Nkwachi is survived by his aged parents, wife,three children,two sisters,numerous relatives, and a legacy of compassion and godly service.
