A Great Man in Abia: Ex-Governor Fayose Applauds Alex Otti’s Two-Year Performance After Project Tour

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Peter Fayose, has heaped praise on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, following an extensive tour of key infrastructure and development projects across the state.
The ex-Governor described Otti’s two-year performance as “impressive, impactful, and people-focused,” noting that the administration is delivering real dividends of democracy to the citizens.

Fayose, who paid a private visit to Governor Otti at his country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, decided to see firsthand the projects being executed under Otti’s leadership. He later visited major project sites in Umuahia and Aba, including rehabilitated roads, Smart Schools, and Primary Healthcare Centres.

“The Governor is doing well for the ordinary Abian, improving their quality of life and bringing them closer to civility. I am more than impressed with what I saw,” Fayose told journalists on Monday after the tour.

The former Governor explained that the decision to tour the projects stemmed from Otti’s insistence on receiving honest, firsthand feedback.

“He insisted I must see it myself. So I went to Umuahia, the state capital, and saw things for myself—including some of the maternity and healthcare centres. Across all sectors, what I saw is impressive. I’m not one to flatter, but in just two years, this administration deserves a strong pass mark,” he said.

Fayose was particularly struck by the Smart School initiative, which he described as “the most heartwarming” among the Governor’s achievements.

“The one I love the most is the Smart School. Building structures is easy, but making them smart—transforming them into centres of knowledge and future-readiness—is the real icing on the cake. I sat through the concept and I’ll be sharing it with my Governor in Ekiti,” he added.

He also visited the once-dilapidated Port Harcourt Road in Aba, which has now been reconstructed into a modern dual carriageway, calling it a significant intervention in the commercial heart of the state.

Fayose emphasized that Governor Otti’s efforts across sectors such as healthcare, education, and road infrastructure have visibly improved the lives of ordinary citizens and repositioned the state for economic growth.

“There is a great man in Abia State. He is a fantastic character. I’ve known him for a while—Otti has moved on and he’s still giving his best. He is committed to work and development,” Fayose declared.

He urged Abians and residents to sustain their support for Governor Otti in order to consolidate on the developmental gains made so far.

> “He needs the support of Abians to continue his good works. What I am saying here is simple: I recommend Otti to Abians because of his good works.”

The visit by the outspoken ex-Governor has added yet another voice to the growing chorus of commendations for Governor Alex Otti’s administration, which many see as ushering in a new era of purposeful governance in Abia State.
