ABSG Reaffirms It’s Commitment To Supporting Every Effort Aimed At Enhancing Security In The State
Àbia State Government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to providing necessary resources and infrastructure that will enhance the capabilities of security agencies in Àbia State.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor of Abia State Engr Ikechukwu Emetu while speaking in an event organized by the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) at police officer mess umuahia,meant for the unveiling of their proposed Administrative block and award presentation to credible individual.
In his words ,”the Government of Abia State will continue to work closely with the police,the Police Community Relations Committee and other security agencies to ensure that the tools needed to perform their duties effectively are available “.
“I want to assure all of you that the Government of Abia State remain committed to supporting all efforts aimed at enhancing security across the state”.
Engr Emetu while acknowledging that security is the bedrock of any thriving society , called on all stakeholders; community leaders,youths , religious groups and civil society organization to continue their active involvement in community policing.
Speaking further his Excellency said “we recognize the importance of fostering a peaceful environment that’s allows business to thrive, students to learn and our people to live without fear”.
He commended the Nigerian Police Force especially Àbia Command for their unwavering Commitment to maintaining law and order even in the face of challenges and noted that the police collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee, is a testament to the fact that security is a shared responsibility,one in which every citizen have a role to play.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman Police Community Relationship Committee( PCRC) Abia State Command, Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam, said that PCRC is a. Community policing based Committee established by the leadership of Nigeria police force in 1984 to foster healthy relationship between Police and the Communities in a view to enhancing efficient and effective policing of Nigeria communities.
According to him, PCRC as no 1 partner and a formal security committee instituted by police, is vested with the responsibility of information gathering neighborhood watch, articulating programmes and activities that will positively enhance the operations of the police in the communities.
Chief Igboanulam used the opportunity to welcome the new Abia Commissioner for Police, CP Isa Danladi Nda who he said his antecedence and track records of performance will break barriers and exceed expectations in the state as well ask commended the state governor, Dr Alex Otti for all measures ensuring that the state remains the most peaceful state in the south east and beyond.
He appealed to Abia State Government and the general public to assist PCRC in their prioritized commitment towards Community policing and engagements, for effective information dissemination and public awareness campaigns. actualizing their administrative office book and donations of vehicles for rapid responses.
Highlights of the event included, the unveiling of the PCRC proposed administrative block plan by the Deputy Governor, presentation of awards to Engr Emetu,other credible individuals and also raising of fund to support the project.
