The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the reconstitution of the Management Board of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) as part of efforts to enhance governance and service delivery in the institution.
The reconstitution, carried out in line with the law establishing the hospital, is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services and advancing medical training and research in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, the newly constituted board is chaired by Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu, while Prof. Nneka Chioma Okoronkwo serves as Chief Medical Director.
Other members include Dr. Kelechi Omende, Dr. Temple Nwosu, Dr. Patrick Umezurike, Prof. P.E.N. Onyemachi as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Gazie Okpara, Prof. Chuks Kamanu, Dr. Mrs. Ifeyinwa Blossom Uma Kalu, Mrs. Ihuoma Nwagbara as Secretary, and Dr. Odochi Ewurum representing the Nigerian Medical Association.
Governor Otti congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working diligently to reposition the hospital as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical training, and research.
The appointments take immediate effect.
