Abia NAWOJ Pledges Loyalty To Governor Otti As She Embarks On Advocacy Visit To The Commissioner for Sports
As part of her activities to celebrate Abia NAWOJ @ 34 scheduled for 8th May, 2025, members of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists paid a courtesy visit to the commissioner for sports and youth development; Sir. Nwadinma Nwaobilo Ananaba in his office.
Receiving the NAWOJIANS, the Sports Commissioner expressed pleasure on the occasion of the Abia NAWOJ @ 34 coming up and said that since the inception of the Alex Otti led government, Abia has experienced various forms of developments and transformations.
According to the commissioner, the governor has performed creditably on infrastructural development such as: road, health, education, among others.
He also added that at the field of sports, his administration has sponsored Abia athletes to local and International tournaments where they broke records, won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals for the state.
The commissioner who described the state chief executive as a sports-loving governor, assured members of t NAWOJ of his support and prayed for the success of the NAWOJ novelty match and their celebration @ 34.
Speaking earlier, the chairperson Nigerian Association of Women Journalists Abia State chapter, Mrs. Josephine Ogwo informed the honourable commissioner of the activities lined up for the program, which includes in the order of timelines.
Program Rundown:
1. Road Walk and Visit to Vulnerable Homes
Demonstrating our commitment to community impact and support for the underserved.
2. Novelty Football Match
A friendly match between Women Journalists and Female Appointees of Governor Otti’s Government, aimed at fostering unity and promoting wellness.
3. Facility Tour
Visit to completed and ongoing government projects, showcasing the achievements of the current administration.
4. Main Event – A Milestone Celebration
Marking 34 years of promoting Women’s Voices in the Media and Pen Profession.
Highlights will include:
A Keynote Address
Panel Discussions on gender, media, and governance
An Awards Ceremony recognizing outstanding personalities
She, however, appealed to the honourable commissioner to help NAWOJ in terms of providing officials for the match and other necessary assistance for the success of the event.
Also speaking, the former NAWOJ chairperson, Mrs. Nwaka Amauwa congratulated the honourable commissioner on his appointment as well as the feat already achieved in sports development in the state and urged him not to relent.
In a vote of thanks,the Chairman, Association of Heads of Federal Establishments and Director heading Federal Information and National Orientation in Abia State,Mrs. Gloria Abiakam thanked the honourable commissioner for his warm reception,
commitment to the growth and development of sports,dedication to empowering our youths,and tireless efforts in fostering unity through sportsmanship.
Mrs Abiakam , therefore,praised his leadership as a beacon of hope, inspiring excellence and igniting passion in the hearts of many youths with positive impact that resonates far beyond the field by shaping lives and strengthening communities.
The visit which featured prayers for the success of the program and group photograph with the commissioner was witnessed by the directors of the ministry.
