Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has chaired the State’s monthly Security Council meeting, reinforcing his administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
The high-level meeting, held at the Government House, Umuahia, brought together heads of all government security agencies operating in Abia State.
Briefing journalists shortly after the session, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd.), emphasized the State Government’s resolve to sustain the prevailing calm and orderliness across Abia. He acknowledged the collaborative spirit and dedication of the security heads in advancing the administration’s security agenda.
Commander Ubah highlighted the strategic importance of the monthly security council meetings in assessing the current security situation, fine-tuning approaches, and consolidating gains made in recent months.
He commended the excellent inter-agency cooperation among the military, paramilitary, and law enforcement bodies in the state, especially in intelligence gathering and information sharing.
“We are grateful to the security agencies for aligning with Governor Otti’s vision to eliminate inter-agency rivalry and operate as a united front against crime. This synergy has been vital in ensuring effective security management across Abia,” he stated.
Ubah further assured residents that Governor Otti remains fully committed to equipping and supporting the security agencies with the tools and logistics needed to maintain law and order, protect lives, and ensure the safety of all Abians.
The regular convening of the Security Council is one of several proactive steps taken by the Alex Otti-led administration to safeguard Abia’s communities, foster a secure environment for development, and enhance the well-being of all citizens.
The meeting was well attended by representatives of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defe
nce Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Correctional Service, and the State’s Ministry of Homeland Security.
