Abia NSCDC Celebrates 2024 International Day Of Peace With Cross Town Walk

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command joined the global community in commemorating the 2024 International Day of Peace with a series of activities aimed at promoting peace and peaceful coexistence within the society. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.”

As part of the commemoration, the Command under the able leadership of Commandant UI Alfadarai fdc, MFR, organized a cross-town peace walk through the major streets of Umuahia metropolis. Officers and men of the Command embarked on the walk, carrying banners, placards, and posters with messages advocating for peace and harmony. The walk was accompanied by the NSCDC band, which added to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

The Abia Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta Region: an NGO operating in the state, also participated in the walk, which further demonstrates the commitment of stakeholders towards achieving a lasting peace in the state and the region at large.

The walk, which concluded at 1200hrs, was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, with no incidents reported.

The State Commandant, UI Alfadarai fdc, MFR commended all participants for their dedication to the cause of peace and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the security and well-being of the people of Abia State.

In his words “the NSCDC Abia State Command will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote peace and security in the state and beyond.”
