The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Echeng E. Echeng, has challenged the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC), Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia State, to continue assisting the Police to effectively perform their constitutional core mandate of securing the lives and property of Nigerians through the supply of accurate information.
The AIG, Zone 9, gave the charge in his office in Umuahia while decorating the Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC )Zone 9, Dr. Ugochukwu Collins Obi, Agu revealed that the PCRC has been instrumental to the success of the Police in combatting criminality.
He also lauded Dr. Obi for his contributions towards the growth of PCRC in Abia Command and Zone 9 and described integrity, passion and zeal for the Police as legendary.
Echeng assured him and his Leadership of his total support and them for helping the Police achieve positive results in crime control and reminded them that the dynamics of criminality has changed,as crime control is now dependent on community policing.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Obi recounted the numerous exploits of AIG Echeng in earning high respect among his colleagues and government adding and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to
fast track the processes of improving the welfare of the rank and file of the Police in order to reduce the rising spate of insecurity in the countr
He assured the AIG of the resolve of the PCRC to do more exploits and appealed for their continued cooperation.
In his speech, one of the Leaders of the PCRC in the Zone, Mr.Chibuzor Ajaegbu while congratulating Sir Dr. Obi on his decoration urged the Police high command to train and retrain prosecutors and investigating officers to help them successfully prosecute their matters.
Contributing, Chief Nnaemeka Onwunne, a member of the delegation assured AIG Echeng of the resolve of the Leadership and Membership of PCRC, Zone 9, to assist the AIG to continue to combat criminality through collaboration.
