The Abia State Government Delivers More Dividends Of Democracy, Commissions Umuahia –Abiriba–Ohafia Road Section, Others
Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, has commissioned the 22.5 newly reconstructed Abiriba – Ohafia Highway and named it Chief Otisi Kalu (Abbot) Road.

Late Chief Otisi Kalu was a prominent Son of Abiriba Kingdom and one of those that were with the Governor in the struggle to deliver Abia State from the shackles of bad governance. While unveiling the plaque erected to immortalize and honour the late Otisi Kalu (Abbot), a prominent Abiriba Enachioken son, Chief Leslie Ebueme Ezikpe (Dike Eji Eje Mba of Abiriba) appreciated the Governor for Immortalizing and honoring their son and asked Abia people to continue praying for Governor Otti who has changed the Abia narrative.

the 11.5 Nunya-Eluama road, Isuikwuato and renamed it after the former Military Administrator of the old Imo State, Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu, the Umuebereaja link road in Isiukwuato, renamed to Onyeike J. Onyeike Road, the newly reconstructed 7- kilometer Abiriba Ring Road, the 2.35 kilometre Obilohia-Amune-Ovim Umuakwu road, Isuikwuato, the reconstructed Chris Uche Road, Igbere, newly constructed Internal roads in the NYSC Orientation Camp, Umunna Bende and the Eluoma road Uzuakoli.

Speaking at the Abiriba junction while Commissioning the 22.5 kilometre Abiriba – Ohafia road, as part of the 67 kilometre Umuahia, Uzuakoli, Isiukwuato, Alayi, Abiriba, Ohafia Highway, Governor Otti noted that the sections 1 and 2 of the road had been commissioned by the former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo last year and named after Late Professor Joe Irukwu.
The Governor said that he decided to name the section 3 of the road after Late Chief Otisi Kalu as one of the pillars of his political movement, describing him as a man whose ingenuity in physics overshadowed his name.

He commended the China Civil Engineering Construction Company Limited (CCECC) for completing the road to the required specifications and for bringing to his attention the underground situation that delayed the earlier delivery time.
Governor Otti noted that he embarked on the road projects to create access and grow the economy of the people. He added that, the internal roads of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp was in a very bad shape, hence, he decided to fix it to make the environment befitting for youth corpers .
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti noted that the section 3 of the Umuahia- Uzuakoli – Abiriba -Ohafia road would have been completed alongside sections 1 and 2 last year if not for the underground situation noticed by the contractor, pointing out that the road was now completed and ready for public use.
Speaking at the Commissioning of the 2.35 kilometre Obilohia-Amune -Ovim Umuakwu road Isuikwuato, the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah and a former Governor of Old Imo state, Retired General Ike Nwachukwu, former Chief of Army Staff, Retired General Ihejirika said that Governor Otti has through his project-driven leadership redefined governance, assuring that he has secured a second term in office through his projects.
Speaking in Igbere, a stakeholder and Bende Federal House of Representatives hopeful, Dr Chima Anyaso while appreciating Governor Otti for his eventful 3 years in office, added that the Umunna Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre when completed would create jobs, save lives and give the entire Abia North a sense of belonging in health related matters.

Answering questions from journalists during the project commissioning, the Director General, Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), Elder Obinna Odum thanked Governor Otti for his transformational gesture across Abia North and other parts of the State, noting that the Governor has through his landmark achievements written his name in gold, assuring that the people would vote for him in 2027.
The Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, the Minister of Works Engr. Dave Umahi, and host of other government functionaries joined the Governor to the road Commissioning ceremonies .
