Governor Otti Pushes For Speed As He Receives Progress Report On Multi-Million Dollar Dairy Farm Project

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged promoters of the proposed multi-million dollar dairy farm in Abia to speed up execution, as he received a progress report from the Blue Ribbon Company, led by CEO Sir Idris Wabara.

The Governor, while acknowledging the scope of the project, expressed concern that it had remained on the drawing board nearly a year after receiving initial approval. “We didn’t expect that after one year, we’d still be here. We need clear timelines,” he emphasized.

, “We know that it is something that would take a little bit of time, maybe we were not expecting that it will take one year to still be on the drawing table.

“But then, it is heartwarming that you are intensively on it. Maybe, we need to have a smaller section, where you will table exactly what you need so that we can also say what we can do.

“But, most importantly, we need to also establish timelines of delivery.

Otti advised the company to pursue short-term funding from local financial institutions while awaiting approvals from international partners like the African Development Bank (AFDB), Afreximbank, and Japanese investors. He explained that early local funding could help kickstart the project and reduce inflation-related costs.

“If there’s anything we can do to help, take it for granted—my team and I are committed to making this project happen,” Otti assured.

Sir Idris Wabara revealed that critical feasibility studies by Israeli dairy experts were wrapping up in Abia and would continue in Lagos with PwC for data processing. He affirmed that the groundbreaking for the project is expected before year-end.

“This will be a game-changer—not just for Abia but for livestock production in Nigeria,” Wabara said.

The delegation expressed surprise and gratitude that the Governor met with them on a Sunday, highlighting his exceptional dedication.

With Governor Otti’s firm backing, the dairy farm promises to position Abia as a hub for livestock innovation and investment.

Present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, DG of PPP & Investment Promotion Office, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke, and SA on Homeland Security, Mr. Chinenye Alajemba, among others.
