Abia Head Of Service Charges Permanent Secretaries To Utilize Gains Of Leadership Training For Quality Service Delivery

Abia State Head of Service, Mrs Ngozi Obioma (PhD) has charged the Permanent Secretaries in the State to utilize the gains of the leadership workshop organized for them by her office, to achieve quality service delivery in their various offices and assignments.

Mrs Obioma stated this at Michael Okpara auditorium in Umuahia during a leadership workshop for the Permanent Secretaries with the theme “Leading The Current Civil/Public Service: Rethinking & Rejigging Leadership capabilities, skills & styles”.

The Abia Head of Service said that the workshop was intended to enhance quality service delivery for the public and clients of Abia State government, also pointed out that it would reduce chaotic relationship between the Permanent Secretaries and the workers in their ministries departments and agencies (MDAs).

Continuing, the HoS explained that the Permanent Secretaries were impacted with best knowledge and skills in leadership which when applied, would produce the positive results for Abia State as well as contribute to the ongoing transformational strides of Governor Alex Otti in the State.

“We expect that there will be re-orientation of service, chaotic relationship will reduce, empathy will be shown in service in their domain based on what they have learnt”, said the Head of Service.

Earlier during the workshop, the Permanent Secretaries were trained by experts on: Understanding the concepts, principles and best practices in leadership and management.

There were also lectures on exploring leadership changes and prospects, team leadership and 21st century skills & competence.

The Permanent Secretaries were equally trained on driving new governance agenda and changes in Abia State as well as rethinking and rejigging leadership capabilities and skills.

Among the experts that delivered the lectures were Engr Sylvester Chiemeka, Independent Certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer, Pastor Enyinna Iheanyi, retired Permanent Secretary, Professor Osorochi Obi, the HoD Psychology and Counseling, MOUAU and the Executive Director of Global Management Resource Centre Ltd Abuja,Mr Charles Obochi.

Some Perm Secs who spoke after the training, expressed gratitude to the Head of Service and Governor Alex Otti for making the workshop possible, promising to hit the ground running with all they learnt.

The office of the Head of Service also organized another one-day workshop for Directors and Heads of Department in the State civil/public service
