Otti Reaffirms Mission To Restore Abians’ Dignity, Vows Zero Tolerance For Corruption
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has restated that his sole reason for venturing into politics is to restore the dignity of Abians, stressing that he is driven neither by personal gain nor wealth.
Governor Otti made the declaration during an unannounced worship at the Abayi District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Aba Conference, and later at the Living Word Ministries International, where he joined the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of the church’s General Overseer and Chancellor of Rhema University, Bro. Emma Okorie, and his wife.
“What we have come to do in Abia is nothing other than restoring dignity. The only reason I showed up to contest elections is about the dignity of our people. It is not about money. Anything that will not restore the dignity of the Abia man, count us out,” the Governor said, drawing applause from the congregation.
He warned all government appointees to steer clear of bribery and corruption, insisting there would be no second chances:
“That is why you will never see bribery and corruption in this government. If you get involved, I’ll fire you. We are intolerant of corruption and nobody can plead for you.”
Citing the recent recruitment of 5,394 teachers, Otti noted that the process was entirely merit-based:
“Nobody paid a dime as a bribe. Nobody was hired because of who he knew. Even people close to me were told to write the exam. If you pass, we will take you; if you don’t, we will not.”
He maintained that his administration would not apologize to detractors:
“Those who are not happy with what we are doing—we will not apologize. They have had their time. From now on, Abia is on the rise.”
Governor Otti also announced that completed road projects in Aba, including the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road and Ohanku Road, would be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on October 3rd.
Earlier, Pastor Macaulay Nwosu of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church praised the Governor for visible progress across the state—road construction, hospital and school development, and prompt payment of workers’ salaries. He cited testimonies from church members who secured teaching jobs through the recent recruitment, free from bribery or favoritism, and assured the Governor of the church’s continued prayers and support.
At Living Word Ministries, Bro. Emma Okorie lauded the Governor’s people-centered governance, describing Otti’s emergence as “an answer to our many years of prayers for God to send Abia a true leader who would fix the state.”
Governor Otti congratulated the Okories on their golden jubilee of marriage, celebrating their enduring union as an inspiration to the younger generation. The event featured prayers, tributes, and the cutting of the anniversary cake.
The Governor was accompanied by lawmakers Hon. Fyne Ahuama (Osisioma South), Hon. Iheancho Nwaogu (Osisioma North), Hon. Aaron Uzodike (Aba North), the Mayor of Osisioma LGA, Hon. Chidi Agu, and other top government officials.
