The ancient kingdom of Ebem Ohafia in Abia State is poised for a historic celebration as the Paramount Ruler, His Royal Highness Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha (JP), marks his 35th Coronation Anniversary and 89th Birthday with the conferment of a prestigious chieftaincy title on one of the community’s most accomplished sons, Mr. Ifeanyi Kalu Ubaka Okali.The highly anticipated ceremony will hold on Saturday, April 4, 2026, by 10:00 AM prompt at the Ohafia LGA Pavilion, Ebem Ohafia, with a grand reception immediately following at No. 21 Chief O. K. Ubaka Street / Chief J. K. Ukoha Street, Ebem Ohafia.
In a rare move that underscores the significance of the honour, Mr. Okali,Director of ABN TV & Radio revealed that he had turned down over 30 chieftaincy titles in the past 16 years, but made an exception for Ebem Ohafia, citing the credibility and integrity of the traditional institution.
“This honour is deeply special to me. It reflects genuine recognition and comes from a place of integrity,” he said.
Also serving as Executive Director of Fakzy Communications & Fakzy Media Ltd and spokesperson of the Ebem Ohafia community, Mr. Okali expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Paramount Ruler, the royal cabinet, and the people for the recognition.
A respected investigative journalist and community advocate, Okali has made remarkable contributions to grassroots development, including the installation of solar-powered lights at Ebem Ohafia market, donation of a motorcycle to the vigilante group, provision of a large generator, sponsorship of JAMB and WAEC registrations, free education initiatives, and water supply projects, among others.
An alumnus of Government Primary School Afikpo, Emmanuel College Owerri, and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), he also advanced his journalism training at the National Broadcast Academy Lagos and Atlantic International University, USA.
With over 85 awards to his name, Okali stands out as a leading force in media excellence and community development.
The event is expected to draw top dignitaries from within and beyond Abia State, as Ebem Ohafia celebrates a revered monarch and honours one of its finest ambassadors in grand style.
