ABIA STATE -NOA, NPC AND UNICEF LAUNCH NATIONWIDE REGISTRATION OF BIRTH TO SECURE EVERY CHILD ‘S FUTURE

The Director, National Orientation Agency Abia state ,Mrs Regina Iroha has encouraged parents and guardians to visit the nearest birth registration centres of the National Population commission to register their children in the ongoing nation-wide registration exercise.

Mrs Iroha stated this during a press briefing on birth registration sensitization campaign organized by NOA in collaboration with UNICEF and National Population Commission NPC in Umuahia.

According to the NOA Director, the registration exercise is free and simple requring only supporting documents such as immunization card or an existing birth certificate of parent.

She noted that during the process every child aged zero to five years would receive a NIN upon face capturing and birth registration.

Mrs Iroha also said that by their birth NOA and NPC are not only securing their future but also contributing to development of the nation.

She pointed out that the registration birth runs from August to November 2024.

Also speaking the state Director National Population Commission NPC Abia state Mrs Juliana Ezebuiro represented by the Publicity Secretary of the commission Mr Ikenna Nwachukwu said that the birth registration makes for easy identification and gives every child the legal as a Nigerian and visibility to the government.

She stated that the registration of birth gives the government the needed room for proper economic planning, enhanced social security amendment and provision of health services.

She also pointed out that the ad-hoc staff been used in the exercise whose catchment areas have been Geo-fence are expected to visit every home or health facilities where new delivery has occurred for face capturing and registration.

In their separate contributions former chairman Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Abia state chapter Senior Apostle Emma Agomuo, the Chief Imam Abia state, Shierk Ali Ukaiwo and the Sarikin Hausawa of Abia state, Alhaji Yaro Dandladi commended the organizers of the program and pledge to carry the message to their various domains and also assured NOA of their full participation in the exercise.
