Abia State Governmgent has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ABSPHCDA) to provide quality healthcare.
Deputy Governor Engr Ikechukwu Emetu made this pledge at the 4th quarter 2025 Task Force meeting in Umuahia, highlighting efforts to strengthen primary healthcare.
Engr Emetu praised ABSPHCDA’s top performance in the South East zone, crediting Governor Dr Alex Otti’s leadership. He urged pregnant women to use government facilities for safe deliveries, citing the abolition of traditional birth practices.
ABSPHCDA’s Dr Kalu Ulu Kalu thanked the government for its support and requested timely funding to expand outreach. Partners like WHO and UNICEF commended Abia’s healthcare progress and suggested deploying trained staff to optimize PHC facilities.
The meeting which focused on enhancing healthcare services and tackling sector challenges was well attended by major stakeholders in health care.
