Abia State Free Education Scheme Brings Hope To Parents And Students
The Abia State Government’s free education scheme has had a profound impact on the lives of many children in the state. The program has successfully removed numerous children from the streets and significantly reduced the number of children hawking on the streets of Aba. This initiative has brought hope to hopeless and poor families across the state.
In an interview with pupils and students of Abia Model Basic School Osusu Amaukwa Obingwa, Aba, the students expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Alex Chioma Oti for implementing the free education scheme. The students stated that the scheme has brought immense relief to their parents, removing the financial burden of school fees. They appreciated the governor for employing qualified teachers which has restored hope and confidence in their ability to achieve their aspirations.
The school has recorded a high intake of pupils and students across various classes due to the quality education and qualified teachers.
However, they have requested the governor’s assistance in addressing some pressing needs, including:
1. Provision of desks and lockers or benches.
2. Construction of more classrooms to accommodate the increased population.
3. Renovation of some available classrooms that are flooded when it rains.
4. Provision of toilets or conveniences.
The students and school administration pleaded with the governor to consider their requests to enhance learning and foster greater academic achievements. The Head Teacher and Principal of the school thanked the governor for his good works, timely payment of teacher salaries, and creating more jobs.
