- The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has charged members of the Ohanaeze Youth Council to work hand in hand with the state government to move Abia forward and ensure that the right leaders are elected in government.
This call was made during a courtesy visit by members of the Ohanaeze Youth Council to his office at the Government House in Umuahia.
Engr. Emetu noted that the vision of the Ohanaeze Youth Council state chapter which includes building a solid administrative structure aligns with that of present Abia State government , and therefore, the Alex Otti Government is ready to collaborate with them. He believes that this partnership will enable massive results since the youth comprise 60% of the population.
Engr Emetu highlighted that the Dr. Alex Otti-led Government has proven that good governance is possible in Abia, with equal opportunities for all.
The Deputy Governor revealed that Abia State currently has an industrial innovation park with the largest gas deposit, which is open for investors. When activated, this will create employment opportunities for the youth and reduce insecurity stemming from their unrest.
Earlier in his address, the State Chairman of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Abia State, Comrade Eugene Okonta JP, commended the Deputy Governor for the cordial working relationship between him and the Executive Governor of the State, Dr. Alex Otti OFR. He noted that their visit signifies the Association’s commitment to bridging the gap between the government and the youth.
Comrade Okonta stated that the Ohanaeze Youth Council Abia State fully supports the Governor Alex Otti administration and prayed for more youth-inclusive policies to enable the state to achieve more.
The National Publicity Secretary Ohaneze Youth Council , Comrade Authority Micheal Ukpabi ,who doubles as Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, pointed out that the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) is a socio-cultural organization that protects the interests of Igbo youth worldwide. He noted that their key agenda is to eradicate bad political leaders .
Comrade Ukpabi opined that the progress in Abia State is having a positive impact on everything in Abia as the Ohaneze youth Council Abia Chapter is the first to hold convention and elect new leaders and has plan of reviving their activities even at the local government level.
He declared that the Ohanaeze Youth Council is solidly behind the Deputy Governor and his principal , Governor Dr. Alex Otti, and they will do all it takes to enforce the continuity of their good governance.
