The Deputy Governor,Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, has urged rural dwellers in the state to live in peace with one another to avoid conflict in the area.
Chief Emetu stated this during a meeting on land dispute in his office between members of Ndiwo and Amaba Ubibia villages in Bende LGA.
The Deputy Governor said that the state boundary council will determine the size of the land with the aid of the Map and give two acres of the land to Mr. Chukwuma Paul, a native of Ndiwo, who presented a document of the disputed land made between his father, late Mr. Paul Udoncha and some indigenes of Amaba village.
He further advised members of both villages to desist from causing further conflict in the area while promising that government will look into all the legal documents concerning the disputed area to determine its status at the Courts.
Earlier in his speech, the Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor and immediate past Mayor, Bende LGA, Mr. Chijioke Nwankwo, encouraged the Legal Counsel to Amaba people to submit all legal documents of Court proceedings involving the land in dispute to the Permanent Secretary/ Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice, Mr. Paul Ogubunka for thorough insight on the matter.
Also in his speech, Mr. Chukwuma Paul, alleged that his father, late Mr. Paul Udoncha, the owner of the land in dispute, was killed and their house destroyed in 2022.
Mr. Paul further said that he is being attacked by Amaba people while working in the land and called on government to come to his aid.
The meeting attracted the presence of the Mayor, Bende LGA, Mr. Uwabunkeonye Bassey, the commissioner of Police represented by ACP George Enahoro among others.
