The Abia State HOS Admonishes Civil Servants To Be Of Good Conduct

The Abia State Head of Service, Mrs Ngozi Obioma has declared open a seminar for civil servants going for promotion, conversion and confirmation examinations.

The Seminar  was organized  at the indoor hall of Umuahia Township Stadium on Tuesday,6th August, 2024.

Speaking while declaring the seminar open,  Mrs Ngozi Obioma explained that the seminar was put together for those going for promotion examinations to prepare them for more dedicated services.

She said that score cards of workers’ performances are being kept by the present administration inorder to take note of their performances.

The HOS,however, tasked the civil servants on the need to move away from analogue system of service by becoming computer literate to drive speed of quality service delivery while challenging them to prove that they are capable and qualified to discharge their duties creditably.

A lead resource person, Mr Anthony Nwachukwu called on participants  to discharge their duties in line with the rules of the service and to avoid involving in misconducts that may tarnish the integrity of the civil service.

During the lecture attended by thousands of workers from different MDAs, Mr Nwachukwu admonished them to avoid misconducts like fighting on duty, membership of secret societies, truancy, falsification of personal or official records.

He also cautioned the civil servants against unofficial and illegal adoption of children, absenteeism without permission, lateness to work, unauthorized leave, rejection of transfer, poor attitude to duties or declaring for any political party.

The resource person reminded the workers that any civil servant who engages in acts that are inimical to the rules and integrity of the civil service will be risking suspension or dismissal according to the service rules.

He further took time to educate the workers about leave allowances, sabbatical leave, sick leave, obedience to the government in power and the need to professionalize their career.

The Director of Training office of the Head of Service,Mr Chima Ogwo
advised the workers to maximize the opportunities provided by the seminar in enhancing their careers.
